Downsizing, Della prefers to call it Right-Sizing! There is nothing “down” to it!
She has been in your shoes on more than one occasion. She got divorced in 2006 and walked away from a mansion on an estate in a prestigious historic neighborhood. It was 6,600 square feet of living area with 3.5 acres of landscaped gardens (her degree from LSU included a minor in horticulture and soil science).
She moved into a two-bedroom, 2.5-bath townhouse that she renovated with luxury finishes before moving in. She kept most of her precious art, wines, artful earrings, and extensive shoe collection, and little else! But she was happy to be free of the steep mortgage note and upkeep that comes with an old house and landscaped grounds.
